What makes the Shibaba a great alternative to cold, hard baby bath plastic seats? 1. The Shibaba develops your toddler's sense of independence. While a traditional bath seat restricts movement, the Shibaba's airgonomic shape lets baby move freely while keeping her safe and stable in the water. The back part of the Shibaba is wide and supports toddler's back, while the front part is thinner and provides balance. 2. The Shibaba enhances toddler's motor skills and sense of balance. The Shibaba encourages development through play. Its unique design allow baby to move around freely in the tub, reach for ducks and grab for bath toys! 3. Made of gentle fabric, the Shibaba is soft and comfortable against baby's sensitive skin. Made from a soft and gentle material, the Shibaba lets him reach and grab for bath toys without leaning into the hard material of a plastic chair. 4. The Shibaba lets you bathe all of your baby's body with ease. With the Shibaba, you can use two hands to get baby clean. No more aching back as you struggle to hold your slippery baby in one hand while washing him with the other! 5. The Shibaba lets you easily bathe two children or twins at a time. Bathe one twin while the other plays safely in the water. Or, let an older child get a bath at the same time as your little one plays freely in the Shibaba. 6. The Shibaba outlasts a traditional bath seat. Begin using the Shibaba when baby is sitting unassisted and steadily, between 15 - 18 months of age. Your toddler will love to ride the Shibaba even at age 3! 7. The Shibaba is super easy to clean. There are no complicated parts to remove and scrub! Just rinse under running water and let it hang to dry. You can also throw it into the washing machine. 8. The Shibaba is light, foldable and portable.

Works as promised, but a couple of significant design flaws keep it from being a "must have" for baby
I purchased this product for my 20-month old, who has just graduated from toddler tub to "big-girl" bathing in the regular tub. Product worked as promised and kept her from sliding around in the tub. The product has the potential to be used by much older toddlers, which I like and was looking for in my purchase. There is no "hidden toy pocket" on the model I received, but I purchased the product for safety reasons, so that's minor in my opinion. However, there are a couple of significant design flaws that would give me pause if I were making this purchase again.
First, unlike a conventional hard plastic bath seat, the Shibaba takes a considerable time to dry, and is heavy and awkward to handle when wet (think wadded up wet nylons). You can't just wring out excess water, and there is no way to hang the product so that it can "drip dry" in the tub. You'll have to improvise something--which is annoying at first use. Second, in small print on the product label, you are...

Just the right support.
My little guy is a year old and we just transitioned from the baby bath tub with the hammock to the BIG tub. I was a little uneasy of having him sit unassisted on the slippery tub floor, so I started searching for something that would just make it easier to sit up and not slip around. The Shibaba Toddler Bath Seat is fun and functional. I have to admit that it's a little hard to get his legs around the cushion in just the right position so that he sits up straight, but once in correctly, the back of the pillow is buoyant and supports his back just the right amount to let him know that something is there holding him in. He loves to kick around in the water, and this pillow just gives me a little more comfort in letting him play around. You would not want to leave your little one unattended with this pillow as they can fall backward into the water if they try...but quite a nice little device to give mom an extra hand while bathing.
It's filled with little foam beads like...
saved bathtime
Our active toddler slipped in tub and became wary of bathtime. I wanted to restore his bathe de vivre, but his first introduction to Shibaba was rough. So I took shibaba out of the water and had my son sit on it on the floor, like when drinking milk, etc. Once he understood what it was, I started using it pulled it in the tub and our son really seems much happier in the bathtub.
I only wish they had sewn a loop on the thing, to make it easy to hang and dry...
